ROSEVILLE ARTS HOSTS POETS

Featuring Tim Kahl and Kate Asche at the Blue Line Gallery

ROSEVILLE, CA, August 3, 2010—Roseville Arts will host the third of four poetry readings in the “Outta the Blue Poetry Series” at the Blue Line Gallery on Thursday, August 26, 7:00-9:00 p.m.

The August 26 reading will feature poets Tim Kahl and Kate Asche.  Kahl is a nationally published poet and poetry translator who reads and hosts readings at the Sacramento Poetry Center.  Asche is an awarding-winning Sacramento poet and essayist and associate director of Arts and Humanities at UC Davis Extension.

The fourth and final reading in the series is scheduled for October 21, 7:00-9:00p.m., featuring  Kathleen Lynch of Sacramento, published poet, essayist and gifted reader of poetry; Roger Groghan, Meadow Vista poet who has read his work at numerous area events; and Moira Magneson of Placerville, who teaches at Sacramento City College.

 U.S. He has translated German poet Rolf Haufs, Austrian Friederike Mayröcker; Brazilian poets, Lêdo Ivo and Marly de Oliveira; and the poems of the Portuguese language’s only Nobel Laureate, José Saramago. He also appears as Victor Schnickelfritz at the poetry and poetics blog The Great American Pinup (http://greatamericanpinup.wordpress.com/) and the poetry video blog Linebreak Studios. He is also the editor for Bald Trickster Press, which is dedicated to works of poetry in translation into English, and he is the vice president and events coordinator of the Sacramento Poetry Center.

ABOUT KATE ASCHE
Kate Asche is a poet and essayist. A graduate of the UC Davis Creative Writing Program, she received the Elliot Gilbert Prize in Poetry in 2005 and 2006, was a finalist for University of California Poet Laureate and was nominated for Best New Poets (Meridian Magazine).  She has won several Academy of American Poets Awards.  She is Associate Director of Arts and Humanities at UC Davis Extension, where she coordinates the Tomales Bay Writing Workshops. She is on the board of the Sacramento Poetry Center and also facilitates an online writing group.
