Call to Artists for America's ClayFest

Show Description: Our Tradition continues...The Art League of Lincoln has renamed the former clay art show and competition held annually at the Gladding McBean Clay Company as The show is celebrating 25 years of clay competition at the historic Gladding McBean Clay Manufacturing Company in Lincoln, California. Our juror, world renowned ceramic artist, Richard Shaw, will be selecting the works that will be shown on site at the Gladding McBean property, inside one of the historic beehive kilns and in the historic architectural design studio.          Entry Instructions:
1.) The show is open to all Ceramic Artists worldwide.
2.) Artists may submit up to three(3) Entries which are original pieces and are made of 70%
clay as the primary medium.
3.) You are allowed up to three (3) Images per ENTRY
4.) MAXIMUM ENTRY SIZE LIMIT: Works must not exceed 36 inches or 90cm in any dimension
- NO EXCEPTIONS.
5.) Submission of all works will be done online via the 'EntryThingy'. All images must be clearly labeled with a title. YOUR NAME MUST NOT APPEAR ANYWHERE ON
THE IMAGE OR IN THE FILE NAME ITSELF. All images must be submitted as .jpg files.
Save all images at 300 dpi and no larger than 10 inches on the longest side.

6.) All works submitted must have been created after January 2011
7.) Works entered and selected must be properly prepared and presented 'ready' for display
8.) Accepted work which differs significantly from work represented in entry will be disqualified.
9.) No accepted entry may be withdrawn or sold outside of the show prior to the close of the
exhibition.
10.) This is an open jurying and all images are/will be viewed in an anonymous manner
11.) All accepted artwork must be available for sale during the show. Art work must not be sold
prior to shipment to the Art League of Lincoln's ” Art Show and
Competition.
12.) All artists whose work is accepted will receive shipping instructions and a telephone call.
Those not accepted: will receive an email with a letter and Juror Statement

13.) Important Dates and Information:
        * There will be a total of 85 entries accepted for the show.
        * February 4, 2013 - Deadline for all on line entries using “Entry Thingy”
        * February 10, 2013 - Juror starts his selection process.
        * March 15, 2013 - Acceptance/Rejection notices are sent by Administrator
        * April 8, 2013 - Selected works of art must be physically received no later than this date.
        * April 20, 2013 - Opening Reception at Gladding McBean

ENTRY FEES: Non-refundable entry fees are as follows:
                    First Entry: $25
                    Two Entries: $30
                    Three Entries: $35
All work accepted must be for sale. Traditionally, 60% to 70% of accepted works have sold during
the show. The Art League of Lincoln is responsible for all sales, will collect California sales tax
and will retain 30% of the selling price for its services. All prices quoted must be in US Dollars.

ENTRY DEADLINE:
All on-line entries and pictures must be received by February 4, 2013. See “Terms of Entry” below. SHOW DATES: April 20, 2013 through May 28, 2013

$200 Tile Heritage Prize ($100 Cash plus one year Tile Heritage Foundation Membership)
Plus 3 additional $250 special Merit awards. 

OUR JUROR:
Richard Shaw, San Francisco Bay Area, California 
Richard Shaw was educated at the San Francisco Art Institute where he received his BFA in 1965. He completed his MFA at the University of California at Davis in 1968. He began teaching at the San Francisco Art Institute in 1966 where he taught for twenty years. He is presently a professor of art at the University of California at Berkeley where he teaches ceramics and drawing.

One of two National Endowments Grants allowed him to explore a photo silkscreen method of reproducing decals and allowed him to work with a professional silkscreen artist, perfecting ceramic transfers. 

Richard Shaw has been a resident artist at Shigaraki Cultural Ceramic Park in Japan, the Manufacture National de Sevres in Paris, the Watershed Center for Ceramic Arts in Maine, and the Peter Voulkos Fellowship at the Archie Bray Foundation in Helena, Montana. He was elected as a fellow of the American Crafts Council in 1998, Honorary Member of NCECA (the National Council of Education in Ceramic Arts) in 2010 and Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts Legends Award 2011. 

His work is collected in both private and public collections nationally and Internationally. Public collections include the Whitney Museum of American Art, The San Francisco Museum of Art, The Taipai Museum of Modern Art, The National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto, Shigaraki Cultural Ceramic Park, Japan, The Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, The Netherlands and the Victoria Albert Museum. The Cantor Museum Stanford, among other institutions.

PAYMENT 
Two options are available for payment of Entries:

OPTION #1: PayPal/Credit Card:
PayPal is the simplest method. You may pay by credit card with PayPal. Check your payment options by clicking on the PayPal button. Please be sure to put your assigned Artist Number in the PayPal Comment Section when making payment on PayPal or your payment cannot be verified.

OPTION #2: Mail In Entry with Personal Check/Money Order
Payment by personal check or money order (This is a mail-in option) If using this option, please be sure to complete one of the payment options and print out your entry as your entry will not be valid until payment is acknowledged and Administrator “accepts” your entry and makes it available and visible to the Juror. This happens after your entry has been received by the Administrator. Checks should be made out to: and forwarded to ADMINISTRATOR, C/O 384 Daylily Lane, Lincoln, CA 95648

Instructions for Accepted Entrants: 
Liability During the receiving, installation, exhibition and return of the work, every reasonable precaution will be taken to protect the submitted works. The Art League of Lincoln, its employees, volunteers and Gladding McBean assume no responsibility for loss or damage incurred. Artist MUST carry their own insurance for both the show and for shipping. We are not responsible for lost or damaged work. Work should not be so fragile that shipment or public display is potentially harmful to the work or the viewer.

If your work is selected for the show, all shipping costs and insurance for both the sending of your artwork and the return of the work, is the sole responsibility of the artist. A return postage/insurance packet must be included in your package/container when sending your work to us. You will receive the information as to where you are to ship your entry once the Juror’s selections have been completed.

Terms Of Entry For Entrants:  
All entries will be done using the 'On Line EntryThingy' process by using the “ENTRY” button on the Art League of Lincoln’s web site at www.all4art.net.

Payment is in US Dollars only and is payable through the on line entry form. Instructions are provided to make payment by check or money order via mail-in entry. All payments are non-refundable once entry is received.
