AWARD WINNING STUDENT ARTISTS
   Granite Community Bank Sponsors Awards at Blue Line Gallery

ROSEVILLE, CA, April 8, 2010 – Proud families, friends and teachers joined high school student artists—some in their junior prom attire—for the March 20th awards presentation and opening reception of Roseville Arts’ 29th annual High School Student Show at the Blue Line Gallery.

“You are congratulated for having the courage to not only create your art but also to share it publicly,” wrote the exhibit jurors, local artists Diane Ruhkala Bell, Sherman Moore, Darlene Engellenner. “All are winners for having participated.”
Bell and Moore were on hand at the reception to honor all the young artists and present the awards to fourteen of them, along with Ramona Van Laningham, Vice President for the exhibit sponsor, Granite Community Bank.   

Best of Show award was presented to Nick Stephensen, Woodcreek High School, for his graphite and colored pencil, Artistic Collapse; First Place awards went to Jolyn Campisi, Adelante High School in Roseville;  Rachel Sippel, Granite Bay High School; and Charlie Wyatt, Del Oro High School in Loomis. Second Place awards went to Natalie Bonilla, Lincoln High School; Diana Browne, Del Oro High School; and Kandace Ries, Granite Bay High School.  Third Place awards went to Kristy D, Granite Bay High School; Ryan Mansfield, Whitney High School in Rocklin; and Jasmine San Juan, Woodcreek High School in Roseville. And Honorable Mention awards were presented to Ami Dodge, Whitney High School; Aubrie Gibbons, Roseville High School; Nolan Guettler, Oakmont High School in Roseville; and Ye Won Ki, Rocklin High School.

All participating students are high achievers in their school art programs.  Art teachers from high schools in Granite Bay, Lincoln, Loomis, Rocklin and Roseville were invited to submit a select number of pieces from the thousands of students who participate in their art classes.

Now in its 29th year, this annual Roseville Arts exhibit gives students the chance to showcase their work in a professional gallery setting, at the same time it provides the South Placer Community a unique opportunity to glimpse the quality and breadth of art programs at their local high schools.
