EMPOWERING OUR PEOPLE
Native American Children Share Their Artistic Expressions


ROSEVILLE, CA, April 20, 2010—The artwork of Native American children from the greater Sacramento region will be featured in a special exhibit, “Empowering Our People,” opening in May at the Blue Line Gallery in Roseville.

The exhibit is presented by Roseville Arts Blue Line Gallery in collaboration with the American Indian Education Center of the Sacramento City Unified School District.  The Education Center put out a call for Native American children, ages K-12, to enter their work for display in the children’s room of the Blue Line Gallery, May 7 through August 14, 2010. The public is invited to join the young artists for an opening reception during 3rd Saturday Art Walk, May 15, 6:30-9:00 p.m.  Hands-on activities for children will also be available during the afternoon of May 15, 1-4pm.

ABOUT CALIFORNIA NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN EDUCATION
American Indian Education Centers in California are authorized by California Education Code to provide staff who will assist schools with professional development, counseling, tutorial services, or parent education. They also provide supplemental and extended day instructional programs to meet the needs of American Indian students.
