The Art of Pop-Up – Saturday, Sept. 26, 1-3p.m. $30 member / $40 non member.
Artist and pop-up engineer David A. Carter will introduce basic pop-up designs and engineering tricks to help participants explore their own creative ideas in this hands-on workshop, designed for adults—teachers, parents, anyone 18 or older. In his career of 35 years, Carter has published more than 80 pop-up books. His exploration of ideas in recent years lead to the publication of The Red Dot Series, five pop-up books filled with colorful, non-representative, spontaneous Modern Art forms.  Pop-up sculpture from these books, including larger models, will be featured in “The Art of the Pop-Up Book” opening September 19 at the Blue Line Gallery. More about David Carter at www.popupbooks.com/.
Poetry About Art: A Young Adults Workshop – Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 9 - 11:30 a.m. $25 member / $35 non-member
Young adults (grades 6-8) will learn about ekphrasis, the writing of poetry about art, in this interactive workshop taught by John Bowman.  Participants will go home with a poem they have written that day. Poetry from the workshop will be displayed at the Blue Line Gallery next to the artwork it is about. Bowman is a published poet, writer and former editor and publisher of the Roseville Press-Tribune.  His gentle and empathic style will inspire participants to reach inside and connect with the poet they always have with them.  Email John at valjohnbow@aol.com
