CHARLOTTE COOPER DEMONSTRATES ENCAUSTIC PAINTING
May 29 at the Blue Line Gallery

ROSEVILLE, Calif., May 21, 2010Encaustic artist, Charlotte Cooper, will demonstrate the ancient technique of encaustic painting at the Blue Line Gallery on May 29, 10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

The demonstration, sponsored by the Blue Line Gallery and Charlotte Cooper, is free to Blue Line Artist members and interested guests.  Membership information will be available. The demonstration will be preceded by a brief meeting to introduce upcoming events and opportunities for artists at the gallery.

“Encaustic medium is a lush, dimensional medium, carrying intense loads of color,” says Cooper. The technique, which uses hot beeswax to seal pigment on the painting surface, has changed little since it was used in the Fayum mummy portraits from Egypt around 100-300 AD.

Charlotte Cooper teaches for the Learning Exchange and at High Hand Gallery in Loomis. Her work can be seen at the High Hand Gallery, Hang it Up in El Dorado Hills, Danielle’s Creperie and The Doiron in Sacramento, and in an upcoming a show at Blue Wing in Woodland. She works in forged and copper patina as well.
