EMERGING ARTISTS FROM GEN Y
Students Compete for Awards at the Blue Line Gallery

ROSEVILLE, CA, February 24, 2010 – Suspense will fill the Blue Line Gallery the evening of March 20th as nearly 70 emerging artists from South Placer high schools gather with family, friends and the public to celebrate their exhibit opening and to see how their artwork stacks up against the work of students at neighboring schools.

High School Student Show 2010 will open at the Blue Line Gallery in Roseville with an evening reception, 6:30-9:00 p.m., on March 20 during 3rd Saturday Art Walk.  At 8:00 p.m. this year’s award jurors, artists Diane Ruhkala Bell, Darlene Engellenner and Sherman Moore, will announce their award selections. The cash awards were generously provided by Granite Community Bank.

“The work from these young people is remarkable!” said Beth Rohlfes, curator for the Blue Line. “Every year we see many of them go on to exhibit and sell work in ours and other galleries, and several have even competed successfully with artists from across the country for our National Juried Open Show.”

All participating students are high achievers in their school art programs.  Art teachers from high schools in Granite Bay, Lincoln, Loomis, Rocklin and Roseville were invited to submit a select number of pieces from the thousands of students who participate in their art classes.
